Project

Following a long weekend in Las Vegas, we shifted our focus back to our project. We had a meeting with our project sponsor, who shared updates and changes about our project. A recently hired website designer would now be responsible for redesigning the homepage. Thus, our responsibilities were realigned to finishing the footer and the migration of existing content.

Throughout the week, we worked on these assigned tasks. The content migration proved challenging due to the lack of a template in the free version of the software we were using. Nevertheless, by week's end, we had successfully migrated over three-quarters of the content and nearly completed the footer.

Beyond the project

Our week was busy with activity outside our project work.

Presentations / Guests

Donna Griffit, a corporate storyteller with two decades of experience, illustrated how stories change customers' outlook on a company and how we could incorporate this knowledge into our personal and professional lives.

School Excursions

Visit at Google

A highlight of our week was a visit to Google, a cornerstone company in Silicon Valley, where two Googlers showed us around their main campus.

Swissnex

We also visited Swissnex in San Francisco, an outpost established by the Swiss government to engage with its local partners.

We learned about their operations and had the privilege of meeting Astrid Langer, the NZZ’s Silicon Valley correspondent. She shared insights from her work as a reporter and talked about Silicon Valley’s innovations and the challenges it faces.

Freetime

Alcatraz

Our San Francisco journey included an excursion to the infamous Alcatraz Island. Listening to audio stories told by former inmates and prison guards, and seeing the prison and its conditions firsthand, was an eye-opening experience.

American Football

Our weekend kicked off with a preseason football match at the Levi’s Stadium: the San Francisco 49ers vs the Los Angeles Chargers. Although the 49ers initially led, the Chargers made a comeback, ultimately winning 23-12. Despite the loss, we thoroughly enjoyed our first American football experience.
