Our fifth week began with the completion of the website content migration. Alongside, we researched new design themes, in response to our project sponsor's wishes for a redesign from the previous week.
Additionally, we incorporated various plugins, notably our intuitive contact form that offers direct calls and emails. Later, we made progress in SEO optimization and finalized the website's footer.
The new website design was suddenly rolled out, which threw us a new challenge. Due to our accounts being inaccessible, we had to be agile and handle administrative tasks before working on the new website. Clarity was soon regained after a productive session with the project owner, setting precise goals for our final week. Our week concluded with us initiating our technical documentation, ensuring the project's submission conditions.
This week featured a series of interesting excursions.
On Wednesday, we visited the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA. It details the journey of Silicon Valley's evolution into a global tech hub, highlighting the achievements all over the world across centuries that made this possible.
In the picture below is one such technological achievement, the Sony Magic Link.
The next day, we returned to Mountain View. This time we toured Stampli, a fast-growing startup, specializing in automation of finance processes for mid to large-sized companies. The team walked us through their typical SV office, followed by an engaging Q&A with the CEO, offering us rare insights into the world of tech startups.
To end our week, we went to Plug & Play, a famous SV accelerator. The tour around the office showed us the huge variety of companies working with Plug & Play. The most impressive part was their wall of successful unicorns. They have backed 30 companies, which are valued over a billion dollars!
Subsequently, we tuned into a live investor pitch on Zoom, where nearly 30 startup founders had three minutes each to present their ideas to potential investors in hopes of securing funding.
The weekend brought with it a scenic retreat. Our goal was Santa Barbara, where we had reserved a hostel close to downtown. En route, driving our rented Mustang, we made a pit stop at Santa Cruz and watched surfers riding small waves.
