For our 4-day trip to Las Vegas (LV), three classmates joined us, making us a six-person group. Half of us headed to San Jose (SJ) Airport to pick up our rental car for the following journey.
On our way to LV, we were informed about flood warnings, as a hurricane was nearby. Thus, although unusual for this part of the US, we were driving through heavy rain. Finally, driving all day, we reached Vegas by the afternoon, where it was slightly rainy. This set the tone for a wet weekend ahead.
Next, we checked into our rooms, and had a great night full of food, drinks & exploring the city.
On Saturday we checked out more of the city and went to grab lunch. Later, we went to the hotel’s outdoor pool, but were abruptly stopped as it started raining once again. After a pizza dinner, we split up. Four of us went to the Las Vegas strip to take in LV’s night life, the others relaxed at the hotel bar on the 66th floor, combined with a gambling session at the casino.
Sunday, we drove 4.5 hours to the beautiful Antelope Canyon. When we arrived, it was over 35°C, the most intense heat we had experienced this weekend. However, shortly after our 1-hour tour through the Canyon began, it started to rain which we enjoyed, as the temperature cooled off to a moderate level.
Originally, we had planned to use our last day to go to Death Valley. However, Mother Nature had other plans. A hurricane made it impossible to visit Death Valley. A bit disheartened, we changed our plans and decided to drive through Yosemite National Park on the way home, adding a worthwhile 2 hours to our drive.
In retrospect, our 4-day weekend was full of wet weather and surprises. We enjoyed our lives and had a great time!
